NEW YORK - Heath Ledger, the talented 28-year-old actor who gravitated toward dark, brooding roles that defied his leading-man looks, was found dead Tuesday in a Manhattan apartment, naked in bed with prescription sleeping pills nearby, police said. There was no obvious indication of suicide, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.
Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the SoHo apartment that is believed to be the home of the "Brokeback Mountain" actor, Browne said. The massage therapist and a housekeeper found his naked body in the bed at about 3:30 p.m. They tried to revive him, but he was already dead.

レジャーさんは同日午後３時２６分、自宅のベッドで死亡しているのを家政婦に発見されたもので、死因は不明だという。事件性はないもよう。
この８月に全米で公開される「バットマン」シリーズの最新作「ダークナイト」（Dark Knight）では、かつてジャック・ニコルソンが演じた悪の権化、ジョーカー役を全く別の解釈で演じ切り、話題を呼んでいた。冒頭YouTube動画は、遺作となった「ダークナイト」で、バットマンと対決するジョーカー。
